Warm white or cool white?
This is the question that stalls most lighting purchases, and product photos online never answer it honestly. Nearly every listing is edited to look golden.
Drag the slider and watch the same room change. The short version: warm white at 2700K for anywhere people relax or celebrate, so living rooms, balconies and Diwali. Cool white at 6500K for anywhere people need to see clearly, so gates, facades and security lighting.

Cheap decorative lighting has a genuinely high failure rate straight out of the box. We test each unit before it is packed, so you are not the person who discovers a dead section halfway through hanging it.

There are thousands of near-identical series lights online and most of them are the same factory's output at different markups. We stock the handful that survive a season, and we drop anything whose return rate we are not comfortable with.

Specifications you can actually use
Real length in metres, real LED counts, real IP ratings and real wattage on every listing, not a marketing number. If a light is rated for sheltered outdoor use only, we say so rather than calling it waterproof.

Buying decorative lights online in India
Decorative lighting is one of the few purchases where the photograph is almost always a lie. Listings are shot in the dark with long exposures and heavy edits, so a 100-LED string looks like a shop window. The two things that actually determine whether you are happy, how warm the light is, and whether it still works next year, are the two things a photo cannot show you.
How many metres of series lights do you need?
As a rough guide: a standard balcony railing takes 8 to 10 metres, a single window frame takes 5 metres, a 2BHK done modestly across the main rooms takes 30 to 40 metres, and a full terrace or compound wall starts at 50 metres. Always measure the run and add 15%, you lose length at corners, and the plug has to reach a socket. Buying one string too few is the most common ordering mistake, and the second string rarely matches the first exactly.
Indoor or outdoor: what the IP rating means
IP20 is indoor only. Fine inside a room, wrong for a balcony that catches rain. IP44 handles splashes and is right for covered balconies, verandas and sheltered porches. IP65 is properly weatherproof and is what you want on gates, compound walls, garden lighting and anything exposed to a monsoon. Buying IP20 for an outdoor run is the fastest way to lose a string, and it is a genuine electrical hazard rather than just a wasted purchase.
Why cheap fairy lights fail after one season
Three reasons, in order of how often we see them. Thin, poorly insulated wire that cracks where it was bent around a railing. Undersized or unshielded controllers that cook themselves inside a plastic housing. And series wiring so cheap that one dead LED takes the whole run with it. None of these are visible in a product photo, which is exactly why we plug everything in before it leaves us and why we ask suppliers for their BIS registration.
Series lights, rice lights, pixel lights, what is the difference?
Rice lights are small LEDs on a fine copper wire, the most flexible option and the easiest to wrap around plants, railings and frames. Series or pixel lights are denser and brighter, usually with a controller offering chase and twinkle patterns. Curtain lights hang vertical drop strands from a horizontal wire and are the standard choice for window frames and wedding backdrops. Ball and globe lights use larger frosted bulbs for a softer, more decorative look over dining tables and shelves.
